Ethics Statement

Last updated: June 2026

CRT Reviews exists to deliver honest, independent criticism. These are the principles that govern how we operate — written plainly, held to publicly.

Independence

CRT Reviews operates independently. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or financially beholden to any game developer, publisher, or platform holder. Our editorial decisions are made free from commercial pressure. No publisher relationship will ever influence a review score or the framing of our coverage.

Review Copies & Early Access

We occasionally receive review copies of games provided by developers or publishers at no cost. Receipt of a review copy does not guarantee coverage, a positive review, or any editorial consideration beyond the opportunity to play the game. We disclose when a review copy was provided at the bottom of every relevant review.

No Pay-to-Play Coverage

CRT Reviews does not accept payment, gifts, travel, hospitality, or any other benefit in exchange for editorial coverage or favourable reviews. Any sponsored content, should it ever exist, will be clearly and prominently labelled as such and kept entirely separate from editorial content.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers are expected to disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationship with a developer or publisher before covering their work. Where a conflict exists, coverage will be passed to another contributor or the relationship will be disclosed prominently within the piece.

Corrections Policy

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we correct the record promptly, visibly, and without attempting to quietly edit errors into oblivion. Significant corrections are noted within the article with a clear explanation of what changed and why.

AI & Automation

No review, opinion piece, or editorial content on CRT Reviews is generated by AI. Our writing is done by human contributors. AI tools may occasionally assist with administrative or technical tasks, but never with the writing of content presented as editorial.

Community Standards

We believe in open and honest community discussion. Comments and submissions are moderated to remove harassment, hate speech, and bad-faith content — not to suppress disagreement. Disagreement is welcome. Abuse is not.

Accountability

If you believe we've failed to live up to these standards, we want to know. You can reach us via the Contact page. We take these commitments seriously and hold ourselves to them publicly.
